Teacher vs Tech - Teacher
Teachers are always the ones with knowledge and wisdom. There are different teaching strategies. In my view, the only difference between traditional and modern teachers is the availability and intensive use of technological know-how.
In the traditional method, the teacher was the centre of knowledge. Traditional methods centred around a teacher, blackboard and pen, books and library, limited implication of theories and so on. lecture method, storytelling, question-answer method, debate etc. were the main methods used in knowledge transactions.
In modern times the traditional teacher is equipped with modern technological tools. All the traditional methods were modified in accordance with modern technology. The lecture method was transformed with PPT, video and audio utilities. Storytelling transformed in an interactive way by using videos and audios. Different varieties of tech tools were used in the modern classroom; like an interactive whiteboard, smart classroom with internet connectivity, digitalised textbooks, individualistic attention, digital portfolios and so on. Virtual reality, interactive application, and a student monitoring system came to exist in the place of traditional teaching scenarios.
At present, a transitional shift of focus from the teacher to students can be seen. Limited resources of knowledge were widened like a world and it was accessible with a lower cost or of no cost. Technological and individualistic incorporation made students more involved in the teaching-learning process.
